The Carnival of Bosa
The Carnival of Bosa is the most hilarious festival in Bosa. People come from all over Sardinia to celebrate it. The most busy days are the conventional days of the carnival: on the Fat Thursday a parade of carts is held; on the Saturday there is the celebration of the cellars and many of these, located in the ancient town, are open to the public; the last day of the Carnival is the Fat Tuesday and this is the day of the two most known happenings of this festival.
The first happening is "S'Attitidu" when people get dressed in black in the morning and walk around crying and asking the ladies from the public for a tip of milk. This happening has an heavy sexual background.
The second happening is called "Giolzi" and starts in the evening. People at Giolzi get dressed in white with bed linens and run around the town centre in groups looking for the king of the Carnival, Giolzi infact.
More or less every group has a puppet representing the king and at some point in the night, the puppet is burned on the roads. These fires state the end of the Carnival.
Visitors coming to Bosa upon the Carnival get intimately involved in this festival as they are part of the crowd laughing and drinking in a very happy mood, not certainly acting as a spectator.
The hospitality and generosity of the people from Bosa is shown in its fullness: fried cakes are distribuited to everyone together with traditional Sardinian pastry and the excellent local wine.

Bosan karnevaali
Bosan karnevaali on Bosan hulvattomin karnevaali. Ihmiset tulevat joka puolelta Sardiniaa viettämään sitä. Festivaalin kiireisimmät päivät ovat “fat Thursday” jolloin vaunujen paraati pidetään, ja lauantai, jolloin juhlitaan kellareita. Useimmat näistä, jotka sijaitsevat vanhassakaupungissa, ovat auki yleisölle. Festivaalin viimeinen päivä on “Fat Tuesday”, jolloin on kaksi juhlan tunnetuinta tapahtumaa.
Ensimmäinen tapahtuma on “S’Attitidu”, jolloin ihmiset pukeutuvat aamulla mustaan ja kävelevät ympäriinsä itkien ja kysellen yleisön naisilta maitotilkkaa. Tällä tapahtumalla on vankka seksuaalinen tausta.
Toinen tapahtuma on nimeltään “Giolzi”, joka alkaa illalla. Giolzissa ihmiset pukeutuvat lakanoiden kanssa valkoiseen ja juoksentelevat ryhmissä kaupungin keskustassa etsien karnivaalin kuningasta, itse Giolzia.
Melkein joka ryhmällä on kuningasta esittävä nukke ja jossain kohtaa iltaa, nukke poltetaan kadulla. Nämä tulet merkitsevät karnevaalin loppumista.
Bosaan tulevat matkailijat pääsevät mukaan festivaaliin ollessaan osa yleisöä nauraen ja juoden iloisina, kaikkea muuta kuin sivustaseuraajina.
Bosalaisten vieraanvaraisuus ja anteliaisuus näkyy kokonaisvaltaisesti tällä karnevaalilla; paistettuja kakkuja jaellaan kaikille yhdessä sardinialaisen leivonnaisen ja erinomaisen paikallisen viinin kanssa.
Nostra Signora de Regnos Altos
The festival “Nostra Signora de Regnos Altos” is held on the second Sunday of September every year. This festival is in the honour of Holy Mary of the church of Castle Malaspina. In the days before the event, the roads of the old town (located below the castle), are dressed with reeds and branches, with small altars with the Holy Mary are set up on them.
In addition, the altars are embellished with typical covers sewed with technique known as filet. During the nights of this festival typical local food is served along the roads of “Sa Costa” (the old town).
The festival attracts visitors from all over the island, and it is introduced with musical shows and parades of people wearing old dresses of the town. This festival also represents scenes of life from the medieval days.
On the Saturday, the party continues all night long and the festival finishes on the Sunday when the holy mass is celebrated in the Church of the Castle.

Festivaali Nostra Signora de Regnos Altos:ia juhlitaan jokaisen syyskuun toisena sunnuntaina. Kyseinen festivaali on omistettu Malaspinan linnan kirkon Pyhälle Marialle. Juhlaa edeltävinä päivinä, vanhankaupungin kadut (jotka sijaitsevat linnan alapuolella) koristellaan kaisloilla ja oksilla, jonka päälle rakennetaan pieniä alttareita joissa on Pyhä Maria.
Lisäksi alttarit koristellaan tyypillisillä päällyksillä, jotka on ommeltu käyttäen filet-nimistä tekniikkaa. Festivaalin iltoina vanhan kaupungin Sa Costan kaduilla tarjotaan paikallista ruokaa.
Festivaali houkuttelee vierailijoita kaikkialta saarelta. Se esitellään musikaalisilla esityksillä ja paraateilla jossa ihmisillä on päällä kaupungin vanhoja mekkoja. Festivaali esittelee myös keskiaikaista elämää.
Lauantaina juhlat jatkuvat läpi yön ja sunnuntaina festivaali päättyy pyhään ehtoolliseen Malaspinan linnan kirkossa.
Santa Maria del Mare
Santa Maria del Mare -festival is held on the first Sunday of August. The origins of this festival come from the finding made by local fishermen of a statue of the Holy Mary which may have been a figurehead of some ship wreck.
The boats for the feast of Santa Maria del Mare are decorated with flags, canes and colorful flowers to accompany the Madonna on the way along the river from the church to the Cathedral of Bosa Marina, located in the historic city center, where the morning mass is celebrated.
In the late afternoon the rivers of the Temo are filled with tourists and locals, for admiring the procession of the Madonna does it again to return to his church of Santa Maria del Mare, to see the procession that Madonna will make it again for return to the church of Santa Maria del Mare, where there will be the Mass officiated by the Bishop of Bosa.
At night the town comes alive with festive, thanks to the preparation and tasting of local products, the folk events and the fireworks.
In Finnish: Santa Maria del Mare -festivaalia juhlitaan elokuun ensimmäisenä sunnuntaina. Festivaali juontaa juurensa paikallisten kalastajien löydökseen Pyhän Marian patsaasta, joka on saattanut olla keulakuvana laivan hylyssä.
Festivaalin aikana veneet on koristeltu lipuilla, kepeillä ja värikkäillä kukilla ja kulkueen ensimmäisessä veneessä on Pyhä Maria. Veneet kulkevat Kirkosta Bosa Marinan katedraaliin, joka sijaitsee historiallisessa kaupungin keskustassa. Täällä juhlitaan aamun ehtoollista.
Myöhään iltapäivällä joen varsi on täynnä paikallisia ja turisteja ihailemassa Pyhän Marian kulkuetta katedraalista kirkolle. Kulkueen loppuhuipennuksena Bosan piispa pitää ehtoollisen kirkossa.
