Malaspina Castle

The Malaspina Castle was built in 1112, by the Tuscan Malaspina family. It is located on the Serravalle hill. The castle was built to defend the city. The Castle was later enlarged, and in 1330 it had a perimeter of 300 meters with 7 towers. The building was abandoned in the 16th century.

The population of Bosa was probably first located nearer to the river mouth in 11st century BC. After the castle was built, the population moved near the castle, abandoning the seaside settlement, for better protection against the Saracen raids and pirates.

The castle still has its boundary walls, part of the towers and the church (which is now dedicated to Nostra Signora de Sos Regnos Altos). The castle is definitely worth visiting for its historical significance and of course the amazing views over the city of Bosa and also Bosa Marina, the sea and the surrounding hills next to Bosa.

Malaspinan linna

Malaspinan perhe rakennutti Malaspinan linnan Bosaan vuonna 1112. Linna sijaitsee Serravalle-nimisellä kukkulalla. Se rakennettiin suojaamaan kaupunkia. Myöhemmin linnaa laajenettiin ja vuonna 1330 linnalla oli ympärysmittaa 300 metriä sekä 7 tornia. 1500-luvulla linna hylättiin.

Bosan väestö ja kaupunki sijaitsi luultavasti ensin lähempänä Temo-joen suuta 1000-luvulla eKr. Linnan rakentamisen jälkeen väestö muutti lähemmäs linnaa ja hylkäsi merenranta-asutuksen, jotta voisi paremmin suojautua saraseenien hyökkäyksiä ja merirosvoja vastaan.

Tänä päivänä linnalla on vieläkin sen rajamuurit, osa torneista ja kirkko (joka on nykyään omistettu Nostra Signora de Sos Regnos Altosille.) Linnassa kannattaa ehdottomasti vierailla, koska sillä on suuri historiallinen merkitys Bosan kaupungille, ja tietysti linnalta on upeat näkymät Bosaan, Bosa Marinaan, merelle ja Bosaa ympäröiville vuorille.
