Welcome to Bosa: Museo Casa Deriu

The Uras-Chelo building, known as Casa Deriu by mistake, is a classical example of a XVII century bourgeois house.

Among the floors of the building, the second one is certainly of greater interest than the other with its fine decorations. Bosa, in the past, was a very modern town and rich people used to furnish their houses in a modern style as a status symbol. The second floor hosts the master bedroom and the living rooms. The living rooms give a chance to admire the orginal furniture, the parquet floor made by olive and cherry wood, the Mozart Piano, the wallpaper, the Art nouveau chandelier and the wall carpets.

On the third floor there is an permanent exhibition in honour of Melkiorre Melis, a famous painter and ceramist from Bosa. The exhibition shows a great numer of works covering the whole artistic experience of the painter. Manufactures and paintings from the period the painter spent in Africa are of great attraction. Paintings of the period the painter spent in Rome are also part of the exhibition, together with some works related to his interest in design art.

The exhibition is completed by a set of photos and letters written by the artist during his whole live.

Museo Casa Deriu

Uras-Chelo rakennus, joka tunnetaan virheellisesti myös nimellä Casa Deriu, on tyypillinen esimerkki 1600-luvun keskiluokan talosta. Rakennuksen kolmesta kerroksesta toinen on selvästi suosituin hinon sistuksensa ja koristeellisuutensa ansiosta. Ennen vanhaan Bosa oli erittäin moderni kaupunki ja rikkailla ihmisillä oli tapana sisutaa kotinsa modernisti statuksensa mukaan. Toinen kerros pitää sisällään päämakuuhuoneen ja olohuoneet. Makuuhuoneet antavat mahdollisuuden ihastella alkuperäisiä huonekaluja, kuten oliiveista ja kirsikkapuusta tehtyä parkettilattiaa, Mozart pianoa, tapettia, jugend-tyylinen kattokruunu ja seinämatot.

Kolmannessa kerroksessa on pysyvä näyttely, tunnetun Bosalaisen maalaajan ja keramistin, Melkiorre Meliksen kunniaksi. Näyttely esittelee suuren määrän taideteoksia käsitellen taiteilijan kokemuksia uralta. Teokset ajalta, jonka taiteilija vietti Afrikassa ovat erittäin kiinnostavia. Myös rooman ajan teokset ja muototaide ovat näyttelyssä suuressa osassa. Näyttely on täydennetty artistin omilla kuvilla ja kirjoituksilla.
